Beneath the makeup and behind the smile i’m just a girl who wishes for the world. - Marilyn Monroe
I’m Branisha Walker, a 19 year old sophomore at Old Dominion University. For years I struggled with my self image but now I embrace what God has blessed me with. This is from a photo shoot I did for a friend. I am wearing a black high waist skirt a black and beige blazer and red pumps.
So, I saw a post about men of color submitting, and I thought “Well, why not?” This is a recent photo of me, (though the facial hair has since been shaved off.) But I think that men of color, especially fat men of color, should be seen a lot more often on sites like these, and everywhere else. ^_^

I made this dress myself this past week, and I’m really happy with the way it turned out. I’m gonna try and make more of my own fashions as time goes by.

Hipster-filtered photo of a 27 year old fat Indian woman wearing a short black velvet dress with a white lace collar, an unbuttoned tweed coat with a flared skirt, cream tights, red lace up shoes and a red vintage hat. She is leaning against a tree in a park with her body contorted in a slightly awkward but ~fashionable pose, dark lipsticked mouth slightly parted.
It’s funny that this photo (and most of the blog post it is taken from) was shot by an enormous racist/misogynist who told me (the person in the photo) during a sexual encounter later during the day that he was ‘really freaked out by my race’ but I am glad that I used him to get an outfit post for my dear dear blog out of it.
There are more photos here, if you’re interested.
My name is Maya. I am a Malay girl from Singapore. I always love swimming since I was young. However since I gained so much weight, I was embarrassed to be caught in a body-hugging swimsuit. Thus I had not gone swimming for 2 years! You beautiful people from tumblr have made me gain so much confidence with my own body. I finally bought a new swimsuit from triumph and I feel so comfortable in it. I think I look awesome too (even without any make-up on.)
