Ain't born typical: Qualities of a White... →
classycoochie:
I attended a workshop last week on Race and Disability. It was great to be in a room with other POC with disabilities and having an open dialogue about our experiences. I was able to snatch the below info that was a handout given to the white allies in a separate room addressing their privilege(as white folks) and oppression (as disabled folks). The page lists Beyond Diversity...

All Smiles
When I first saw this photo of myself, I didn’t like it. Don’t get me wrong, I was in love with my body and my self esteem was relatively solid. Just, this photo; I thought that my head looked fat, my hair was a mess, my cheecks too chubby, my eyes squinty and my double chin-you could see it.
That was 3 years ago. Now when I looked at this photo, I love it dearly. This photo...
clatterandclank asked: Hi you fabulous people,
I just wanted to say I am an ally and I think what you're doing here is awesome and important and supergreat. Also, that those folks who keep popping up saying 'white is a color, too' or 'you're racist against whites' need some life lessons on privilege awareness. You guys are doing an excellent job educating them, but if you...

Pride

My twin sis and I at Great America’s Pride Night.
The entire day/night she kept telling me people were looking at me… Probably because of my sheer top/bra combo. I was ridiculously proud of myself for being able to not give a shit. Progress!

The Power of Our Jiggle: Jiggly Boo Dance Crew
The past several months have been amazing! Not only have I had a rewarding time teaching some fabulous students, and engaging with people here at Amplify, but I’ve also made 6 stunning new friends! In January of this year I saw a call for fat dancers at my friend Joe’s blog. When I heard about the Jiggly Boo Dance Crew (JBDC) it was like my life finally began to make sense. I not only was I...

[A Puerto Rican lady is standing in a red and white dressing room. She has one hand on her hip and one hand holding a camera. She has black-brown shoulder-length hair, purple glasses, and skin the color of heavily creamed coffee. She is wearing a knee-length black dress, a dark gray cardigan, a bright green scarf looped around her neck, and medium gray Toms shoes.]

The Matriarchal Legacy of The Black Woman’s Righteous Anger
Stop acting like we don’t have a right to this collective anger. Anybody with a brain that thinks and eyes that see and nose that knows KNOWS that we have a right to this anger. The “Angry Black Woman” is angry…
I believe you because I see it too. I love you and I support you.
We Will Not Be Unwritten: Preserving Queer Women... →

As LGBT people (esp. members of marginalized groups: women, people of color, transgender, disabled etc), we all need to do a better job of telling our own stories, and in effect, writing ourselves (back) into history. As I learned from this experience, we’re not just at risk of being completely ignored by mainstream media, but about having our history being talked over, our...

Grammar policing is one of the nastiest and most privileged forms of derailing I’ve come into contact with. When you nitpick a person’s argument because of formatting, grammar, or spelling errors, rather than examining the actual intent and objective worth of…

“he posed a question to all of the men in the room: “Men, what things do you do to protect yourself from being raped or sexually assaulted?”
Not one man, including myself, could quickly answer the question. Finally, one man raised his hand and said, “Nothing.” Then Katz asked the women, “What things do you do to protect yourself from being raped or sexually...

Splash of Color
This picture is of a Chinese-Vietnamese American born guy and a Filipino-Japanese-Chinese American born girl. We are taking our engagement photos. I was really nervous because I don’t like taking pictures. The photographer was really great at keeping me calm. I mostly spent my time just having fun and hanging out. We were just acting silly most of the time and day dreaming of our future...

Calling for guest writers!
We’ve decided to start a monthly theme for guest writers to send us your stories. Tell us your FatPOC story. A time that you were validate, something you love about yourself, or even a story that highlights marginalization. Lets make our reality visible. This month’s theme: “School”—tell us a FatPOC school story. Always feel free to go outside the theme if you have...

prossibly asked: I agree with notesonascandal. I am white and seeing that post pissed me off so much. As a white person I can go pretty much any place I want on the internet without being considered an outsider or having to hide part of my identity. If they don't like your blog being for people of color then they can just go to any of those places. Keep on keeping on, this blog is great.
AfroTitty Owns EVERYTHING!: I am tired of fat... →
afrotitty:
I am tired of fat blogging and community hierarchies. Like, “I’ve been blogging on Livejournal for 10 years, so what I am saying or have said in my exclusive online/real life communities is much more important and valid than what these girls on Tumblr are doing now.”
Ew.
Important conversations…
Anonymous asked: Wow I know this sort of defeats the object of that submission, but, wow, I think she's beautiful! But she said I've always been 3 things, 'dark, unattractive and fat' or something. Well you know, dark is beautiful, and you're definitely not unattractive:) Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, just my opinion of course.

Bright side: We have posts queued until Thursday! Yay! Also, please submit! Your submissions will get posted quicker if you write the description yourself, but if you can’t do it that’s cool too. Try to choose some tags to help us too. If you can’t do that, then it will be a very vague description lol.

driftwooddays-deactivated201105 asked: it's not really my art, it's other peoples art that I reblog. My main issue is that it's very hard to find fantasy art featuring fat people, POC or FPOC. Thats why I'd like you to promote my blog http://altfantasyrealm.tumblr.com/ so hopefully I can get more submissions to make this a more successful project because as it stands things are a little thin on the ground as...
